An experiment was conducted to study the effects of supplementary choline or carnitine into brown rice overfeeding based diets on Landes geese's carcass and fatty liver performance. 140 of health Landes Geese, 98 days old, were randomly assigned into 7 groups according to factor experiment design and fed with 7 kinds of different levels of choline(0.05%,0.1% and 0.2%) or carnitine(0.05%,0.1% and 0.2%) respectively. After 7 days' prefeeding period and 14 days of overfeeding experiment, these Landes Geese were slaughted for sample collection and tests of carcass and fatty liver performance. The results are as follows:(l)Fatty liver performanceThe fatty liver performance showed no significant difference among the 7 groups. From group 1 to 7, the average fatty liver weight are 683.00g, 674.00g, 659.00g, 701.00g, 714.00g,693.00g and 745.00g accordingly. Both the groups' supplemented cholineand and the groups' supplemented carnitine are lighter than the contral group's. Group 3, which supplemented 0.2% of choline is the lowest. The rations of feed intake to fatty liver weight of groupl to 7 are 24.38:1, 20.87:1, 22.23:1, 20.00:1, 16.95:1,21.30:1 and 17.95:1,among these, group 5,which added 0.1% of carnitine is best, followed by contral group.(2)Cacarss performanceCompared with the animals before experiment, the indices concering with fat deposition increased significantly. While comparing among the 7 groups. There is no significant difference.(3)Biochemical parameters in serumAfter experiment, there is no significant difference in TCH(p>0.01), TG,GLU(P>0.01) and VLDL(P>0.01) among these groups, but, compared with the animal before experiment, all of these indices increased significantly (P<0.01) excepted GLU(P>0.01).(4)Biochemical composition of fatty liverThere were no significant difference among the groups about moisture, protein, EE, phosphatide and cholesterol, based on fresh matter.Compared with the indices before experiment, the moisture and cholesterol decrease significantly, while the EE and phosphatide increase significantly. In conclusion, the results showed that, there was no need to add choline or carnitine into rical overfeeding diets when digestion energy is 12.61MJ/kg,protein is 8.88%,calcium is 0.85% and phosphorus is 0.60%.
