This experiment was carried out during 2002-2004 in Shanxi Agricultural University. There were five parts in this trial. 1. The date of beginning and ending dormancy of Chinese dwarf cherry (Cerasus humilis (Bge.)Sok) varieties and good strains was studied. 2. Ten Chinese dwarf cherry varieties and good strains were used as experimental materials. Utah model, 0~7.2℃model and below 7.2℃model were used for estimating the chilling requirements. 3.The dynamic changes of carbohydrates, soluble protein, free proline and free amino acid were analyzed. 4. The effects of chemicals on dormancy breaking were studied. 5. The best storage temperature and the best storage days of the Chinese dwarf cherry were discussed. The main results were as followings: 1.The date of beginning and ending dormancy of various varieties and good strains was different. 2.The chilling requirement of various varieties and good series strains were different. The variation range of below 7.2℃model was 372-683h(vegetitave buds), Utah model was 311.5-546C.U(vegetitave buds), 0~7.2℃model was 269-580h(vegetitave buds). 3.With sunshine time becoming short and atmospheric temperature decreasing, the content of soluble sugar increased, the content of starch increased before dormancy and after dormancy the content decreased ,and the content decreased slowly after dormancy release. The content of soluble protein increased before and during dormancy stage and decreased after dormancy release. The content of free amino acid decreased before dormancy and increased after dormancy .The content of free proline increased. The variation tend of the soluble sugar and starch of roots was similar to hardwoods .The contents of soluble sugar of leaves increased and starch of leaves increased previously ,but then it decreased . 4.It could break the Chinese dwarf cherry dormancy efficiently to immerse hardwoods in warm water (40℃), the best hours was 4~6h, the best date was after November. 5.10%NH4NO3+10%CaCN2 could break the Chinese dwarf cherry dormancy efficiently, the best date was from the first ten-day of November to the first ten-day of December had an optional effect. 20%CaCN2 hurt the buds of Chinese dwarf cherry. 6.The best storage temperature and the best storage days of different varieties were different.
