Elaeagnus angustifolia L. originates from Mediterranean coast, Elaeagnus mooraroftii is one of the most kinds in Xinjiang, having a somewhat higher economic and zoologic value, and having "desert of treasure" of repution. Dueing to growth rapid, propagating easily, life-force strong, possessing stronger resistence. At the same time, Elaeagnus angustifolia L is able to endure barren and improve soil of function. In northwest drought and desert area of our country, planting Elaeagnus angustifolia to amend salt alkali of soil and prevent sand blown by wind is an economic and effect measure. This experiment studied on the characteristics of physiology and biochemistry of Elaeagnus mooraroftii in Xinjiang under salt stress. The results are summarized below:1. Under NaCl and Na2SO4 stress, the membrane permeability of leaves in Elaeagnus mooraroftii went up as salt stress concentration and time increased. Meanwhile, two salts have no obvious difference (p>0.05) .2. Under NaCl and Na2SO4 stress, the Chl(a,b,a+b) connent in Elaeagnus mooraroftii leaves had difference changes, but the ratio of Chla/b increased after increasing salt concentration.3. Under NaCl and Na2SO4 stress, the proline (Pro) content in Elaeagnus mooraroftii leaves went up with salt concentration and stress time increased to maintain the penetration balance.4. Under NaCl and Na2SO4 stress, the starch content in Elaeagnus mooraroftii leaves went up with slightly salt concentration and stress time increased.5. Under NaCl and Na2SO4 stress, the MDA content in Elaeagnus mooraroftii leaves went up slightly, but the change had no obvious range.6. Under NaCl and Na2SO4 stress, the activity of SOD(superoxide dismutase) , POD (peroxidase) and CAT (catalase) increased in Elaeagnus mooraroftii leaves increased with salt stress concentration.7. Under NaCl and Na2SO4 stress, the NRA of Elaeagnus moorarqftii leaves emerged the descending trend with salt stress concentration and time increasing, and high-speed falling of NRA under Na2SO4 was helpful to prevent accumulation of toxic nitrogenous compounds, so it possessed higher Na2SO4 salt-resistance.
