Rubus corchorifolius is a sort of bush in Rosaceae, its roots, stems and leaves can be used for treating stomachache, diarrhea and dysentery by traditional Chinese medicine. But the medicinal components and effects of treatment are not reported in the publications. The medicinal mechanisms have be researched in two aspects through extracting active substance from its roots, stems and leaves. The writer have made researches on the effect of isolated antimicrobial by means of the methods of Tube-Dish and Test-tube. The result indicated that: the diameters of inhibitory rings to Escherichia coli of the root, stem and leaf extracts (1.0g/ml) were respectively 1. 459±0.018, 1. 447±0.041, 1.521±0.019 cm. The diameters of gentamycin sulfate(4ug/ml) and 0.85% NaCl solution were 1.459 ± 0.036,0.857 ± 0.008 cm respectively. The variance of gentamycin sulfate(4ug/ml) was not remarkable(P>0.05) comparing with the root, stem and leaf extracts (1.0g/ml). The diameters of leaf extracts (1.0g/ml or 0.1 g/ml) were bigger significantly than NaCl solution(P<0.01). The leaf extracts of Rubus corchorifolius had evident inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Shigella dysenteriae .Their Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations(MIC) were defined: 15.6 mg/ml, 31.3 mg/ml and 31.3 mg/ml. And their Minimum Bactericidal Concentrations(MBC) was respectively 31. 3mg/ml, 62. 5mg/ml, 62. 5mg/ml.Adopting the experiment of isolated intestine , The writer have observedhow it affected on the movement of isolated intestine from rabbit. The result indicated that: the leaf extracts(1.0g/ml or 10.0g/ml), root and stem extracts (10.0g/ml) can significantly reduce tension of duodenum (P<0.01) . But root and stem extracts (1.0g/ml) can not(P>.05). They didn' t have obvious effect on the frequency of movement. When the concentration was 10.0g/ml,the percent of tensional variation of leaf was bigger than root and stem (P<0.01) .It indicated that leaf significantly reduced tension of duodenum comparing with root and stem. The percent of tensional variation of leaf with the concentration of 10. 0g/ml was bigger than that of 1.0g/ml (P<0. 01) .It indicated that the inhibitory effect is more obvious when the concentration of extract is higher. The percent of tensional variation of stem(10.0g/ml) was not remarkable (P> 0. 05) comparing with root (10. 0g/ml). The extract of leaf significantly inhibited the movement of isolated duodenum, jejunum, ileum and colon from rabbit, and reduce it's tension ,but it doesn't have obvious effect on the frequency of movement. The inhibitory effect on duodenum may be mediated by cholinergic M-receptor.Thus the effects of Rubus corchorifolius on antimicrobial and inhibiting the movement of isolated intestine may be the mechanism of anti-diarrhea.
