Studies On Melon's Cold Resistance Of Different Grafted Unions And The Influence Of Yield, Quality And Growing Development

Grafting has widely used for proventing the occurrence of blight in cucumber and watermelon growing. The main reason for it not be widely used in melon growing is that there is no suitable grafting rootstock for the dominant melon growing of location accordingly. Homegenously the effects of grating on the melon plant growth, the yield and quality of melon are not very clearly, and there are few papers on the aspect of grating on cold resistance of melon at present. Therefor the experiment was conducted to study the different grafting rootstocks on grafting affinity, cold resistance, the yield and quality of melon and its plant growth, so that screening the best grafting rootstock for located growing melon. The results showed that:In the concrescence procedure observation, Shengzhenl and Shijixing showed the best grafting affinity and the same speed of concrescence.The test of the effects on cold resistance of seedlings by grafting, the ionogen permeability, proline content and MDA content showed step-up of the grafting seedlings and the self-rooted seedlings under cold stress. This showed that hypothermia damaged the chloroplast and the cell membrane. However, the ionogen permeability and MDA content in the leaves of grafting seedlings were lower than that in the leaves of self-rooted seedlings. Shengzhen-1 is the best one of all the 3 rootstocks. In the test of effects on the melon growth, the result showed that grafting was useful to melon growth. Grafting made growth rapidly, advanced photosynthetic rate, advanced the time of thin-skinned melon fruiting bloom and increased yield of melon. Grafting had no effect on the reticulate pattern occurrence of muskmelon and quality. In the test of muskmelon grafting, Shijixing was the best one of the 3 rootstocks. In the test of thin-skinned melon grafting, Shengzhenl and Shijixing showed to be the best rootstocks.
