Pathology Of The Vitamin C Deficiency Syndrome In Juvenile Jian Carp (Cyprinus Carpio Var.Jian)

The experiment was conducted to study the effect of vitamin C deficiency on pathological and hematological changes of juvenile Jian Carp (Cyprinus carpio Var. Jian).ln trial, 192 juvenile Jian carps (initial weight 11.18?.57g) were randomly allocated to 2 groups feeding the semi-purified diet containing vitamin C 0 or 60mg/kg respectively for 133days.During trail stage, vitamin C deficiency symptoms in juvenile Jian carps were observed, such as skin and fins color more dark, hemorrhages and erosion of fins, spinal deformities and scoliosis. The another symptoms, such as heart weight, spleen weight, hepatopancreas weight, gonad weight, metanephros weight, gonad weight/body weight, blood hematocyte counts and haemoglobin contents decreasing great significantly(p<0.01) .metanephros weight/body weight and blood leucocyte counts increasing great significantly(p<0.01), were determined in fish feeding vitamin C deficiency dietary, but were not significant differences in hepatopancreas weight/body weight and spleen weight/body weight between two groups (p>0.05). We also have observed some organ's pathological changes of juvenile Jian Carp, such as pancreas acinous gland and zymogen granules of acinous gland cell disappearing, intercellular substance hyperplasia and inflammatory cells soakage, hepatatrophia, liver cell granular or vacuolar degeneration and necrosis, karyolysis or pyknosis, glycogen granules decreasing, metanephros atrophy, metanephric canaliculus epithelium granular or vacuolar degeneration and necrosis, mitochondrion swelling and mitochondrion cristae disappearing, karyolysis, distal convolutal tubule microvilli desquamating, spleen marrow cell degeneration and necrosis, intercellular substance of spleen hyperplasia, spleen atresia, blood corpuscle disappearing. Many histhological changes of gill, muscle and intestine of vitamin C deficiency, such as branchial small flakes and breathe epithelium edema and disappearing, breathe epithelium departing from capillary vessel, gill cartilage disappearing , gill basal intercellular substance hyperplasia and inflammatory cells soakage, vertebra caries, vertebra aperture changing smaller and thinner, periosteum connective tissue hyperplasia, intestinal epithelium degeneration and necrosis, intestinal intercellular substance edema, striated muscle fiber degenerationand necrosis, muscle fiber substance edema and inflammatory cells soakage, striated muscle connective tissue fibrinoid necrosis have been observed.In summary, vitamin C deficiency symptoms of juvenile Jian carp were skin and fins color more dark, hemorrhages and erosion of fins, spinal deformities and scoliosis. Vitamin C deficiency coursed hepatopancreas, heart, spleen, gonad and metanephros growth decreasing. The pathologic changes of hepatopancreas, heart, spleen, gonad, metanephros, gill, muscle, intestine and vertebra, such as tissue and cell trauma, were observed. Vitamin C deficiency also resulted in anaemia, basically due to hypocythaemiam and hypochromia, and leukocytosis.
