Hydraulic grapple owns its special character and advantage .It means easier control and excellent performance .So it has been used more and more widely in many fields. Thus how to design a hydraulic grapple more quickly and more efficiently is a problem we have to solve.In this paper, a structure optimization model of horizontal six - bar linkage hydraulic grapple was built by means of its kinematics' and dynamic analysis and combining with its evaluation indexes that was put forward by us. Even more we adopt MATLAB optimal toolbox to solve the model. On the basis of this, a concrete living example of BY9's structure optimization was presented and arrived success. It prove that the model is reliable and practical and utilizing MATLAB in a Hydraulic grapple' structure optimization is feasible.In this paper, four evaluation indexes was brought out to evalue the two kind of hydraulic grapples produced in domestic factory, and four series of that produced by FISKARS was appraised either.
