In the economical society, delivery of irrigation water with pipelines is an important wayto develop the water-saving agriculture. In the whole pipe irrigation network system, the pipenetwork investment generally occupies50-80%of the total project. Therefore, in the situationof satisfying the water volume and irrigation pressure request, it has practical significance toperform the optimal design for saving the investment, improving the economic benefit andsocial benefit.The research object is tree-type pipe network. Based on the summarization of the theoryand technology achievement of network optimization from domestic and foreign, given theexisting problems and shortcomings, combing theoretical study with computer analysis andexamples, using matlab genetic algorithm toolbox, building a mathematic model whichobjective is minimum investment, this paper studies the tree-type pipe network layout anddiameter simultaneous optimization design. The results this paper mainly achieved as follows:(1)This paper studies tree pipe network focused on the farmland irregular pipe network.Each node is supplied by one single link, so this paper considers pipe network as a directednetwork graph in the layout design. And an integer coding method is introduced whichimproves the calculation of GA.(2)This section of code in the layout design, based on the experience of the designer,reduces the number of infeasible solution and improves the computational efficiency andfeasibility in the process of optimization.(3)Integer coding is also used in optimal design of diameter selection, which can avoidredundant genetic coding of binary problems. The genetic algorithm toolbox is used which isprogrammed by Sheffeild University and numerical simulation is used in matlab.
