In this experiment, haematological indexes and pathological changes of pigs infected with Eperythrozoon were discussed. Physiological and biochemical indexes of blood of 20 pigs infected with Eperythrozoon were mensurated and clinical symptoms were observed. Two piglets infected with Eperythrozoon spontaneously and another two healthy piglets which were performed splenectomy and experimentally infected with Eperythrozoon were used to observe the changes of pathological anatomy and histology, and then the effects of Eperythrozoonosis to pigs were revealed.Physiological and biochemical indexes of blood showed that, the erythrocyte packed cells volume, erythrocyte total and ferrohemoglobin decreased and leucocyte total increased in the apparent stage; the temperature, respiratory frequency and heart rate increased evidently; SGPT (serum glutamate-pyruvate transaminase) and serum bilirubin increased; the blood sugar decreased. The temperature, respiratory frequency and heart rate were much higher than the normal value in the inapparent stage and other indexes had some changes in a certain extent. The clinical symptoms were characterized by anaemia, jaundice and thinness.Main pathological anatomic changes of piglets infected with Eperythrozoon spontaneously were characterized by hydremia and dys-coagulation of blood. Skin, mucosa and fat all over the body were stained yellow. Hepatomegaly, splenomegaly, tumefaction of lymphoid nodule and punctuate hemorrhage in most of organs could also be observed. Hemosiderosis in liver and spleen and kidney and lymphoid nodule were the main changes in pathological histology. Varicose liver cells partly with cracked karyon and inordinate liver cells cable existed, Lymphatic follicle cells of spleen hyperplasia, large number of red cells gathered in red pulp; epithelial cells of renal tubule denaturalized and swelled. There were not obvious differences between of the pigs infected naturally and those infected experimentally in the changes of pathological anatomy and histology. The research became the base of studying the nosogenesis of Eperythrozoonosis and supported scientific basis for diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
