It was observed whether the colony of Apis cerana cerana Fabricius and that of Apis mellifera ligustica Spinola suffered from chalkbrood disease after infected with Ascosphaera apis artificially. The difference of the developmental situation of Ascosphaera apis on the culture medium made of larval body fluid of these two kinds of honey bees was investigated. The changes of amount of hemocyte of Apis cerana cerana Fabricius and that of Apis mellifera ligustica Spinola after infected with chalkbrood disease were studied. The components and contents of amino acid and mineral elements in the hemolymph of Apis cerana cerana Fabricius and Apis mellifera ligustica Spinola were analyzed. The study had been trying to find out the primary cause of the difference of the resistance to the chalbrood disease between Apis cerana cerana Fabricius and Apis mellifera ligustica Spinola. It was proved that there were highly distinct differences in all these points mentioned above between these two kinds of honeybee. It was suggested that there were integrated factors attributing to the different resistant ability to the chalkbrood disease between Apis cerana cerana Fabricius and Apis mellifera ligustica Spinola. The thoughts of cultivating the resistant race to the chalkbrood disease and the qualifications of selecting materials for cultivating the resistant race to the chalkbrood disease were promoted.
