Abstract/Summary:
The influence of consumerism culture on the city image is very obvious.The general character of globalization with consumption remaining predominant is gradually penetrating into the people's daily life of metropolitan,and occupies the main space of city. The spread of the consumerism culture has already made the whole world become a world with the character of standard commodity. The same pattern of consumption and work experience,and the current figure and identification are the important factors of forming general characteristics.The world of consumption is not only composed by the environment of purchase and consumption but also including the process of buying and the background created by buying.All of that are filled with representations and symbols.There will be a "consumption jigsaw"The consumerism culture is a result of the modern industry and highly developed market.It rose in the modern metropolitans and had some connection with the modern industry. It is the popular culture and created by mass production with the mass medium.It is the times of consumption now. The consumerism culture is the consumption configuration of modern culture which planned by consumerism ideology and operated in the fashion way. Henry Lefebrve considered that,the urban is not only the space aggregation.The real intention of aggregation is to create a new way of living named urban culture.Today, the society of china is developing rapidly. In the widespread urbanizations, our citizens lost the ability of ingenuity and the urban culture.There is urbanization without urban culture in our country. It is the departure from the viewpoint of Lefebrve,and it is abnormal.We need reflect on the mistake and think that how to make our urban space regain the ability of creating daily life.The productivity is advancing continuously. And the technology level is raised day by day. The standard of people's life is improved so the people's activities in the consumption space are changed.The basic activities are enlarged into entertainment, communication,information exchange and some special consumption activities. These activities make the consumption space become more important to formation of urban space.This article is focus on the consumption space in Changsha. Though making comments on the features of consumption space and the relation and function of the consumption space influenced by the new trends (like globalization,multi-media, temporal-spatial viewpoint) of consumption activities in the context of consumerism culture,we can research on the urban consumption space in Changsha.This research is focus on investigating,evaluating,comparing and analyzing the concrete space.In the paper, the logic system of "consumerism culture-consumption space-urban" will be established to analyze the current situation of consumption space in Changsha.The intention of making this logic system is to think the cause of formation of the consumption space and to study on the people's activities in the consumption space.It is the base of thinking of urban space evolution and development.
