In recent years, accompanied by road course increasing and continuous development of the automobile industry, road safety becomes a serious problem increasingly. Road curve is a special structure, and its linear design is complexity leading to accident-prone. This paper studies highway traffic safety in curve systemicly.Through the literature search, there is little study that scholars and institutions have been carried out on at home and abroad. In order to collect and research data better, combined with curve split basis in Annual Report of Chininese Accident, the flat curve radius of less than 60m is defined as a sharp curve, that is greater than the value is the general curve. On this basis, the paper analyzes linear and traffic characteristics of curve, according to recent four years'accident datas, studies the accident patterns distribution, which finds that most accidents are due to driving misplay caused by judging road system failures, to that end, the paper proposes the new accident analysis theory based on driver judging, dividing transport system into drivers subjective safety, road safety and other systems objective safety.The paper has a force analysis for vehicle rollover and sideslip critical state in curve, studies truck and car speed distribution in sharp curve and general curve separately, and finds that speed is increased with the radius getting bigger, when the radius is about 90m, there is a mutation phenomenon for speed, at last, the paper gives the fitting equation between the radius and speed.Aim at the characteristics that overspeed leads to traffic accidents easily, from the view point of traffic behavior and social psychology, the paper focuses on overspeed behavior analysis, then, sums up current speed management experience, proposes factors and principles considered for speed management in curve section, and finally, gives the method of propositional speed and specific safeguards.The bad horizon and traffic signs setting unreasonable are the main reasons for accidents, because of that, the paper proposes the key points of horizon design and application of traffic landscape improving bad horizon, and has a specific sign settings research. Finally, from the perspective to reduce accidents loss, it sets forth common measures on the road side of curve, using the latest new technology, new materials to improve road safety engineering.
