As an essential equipment of the electrical power system, the operational status of High-Voltage Circuit Breaker (HVCB) directly influences on power system's stability and reliability. If broken down, would cause or expanded the grid's accidents, which will result in huge losses. Because the regular maintenance has some drawbacks, such as insufficient temporary repair, excessively repair, blindly repair or overhaul trigger off accidents, etc. We must promote condition monitoring that based upon On-line monitoring and fault diagnosis. So, researching on On-line monitoring of HVCB has an important economic and social significance to enhance the maintenance of the power system.Reviewed status of condition monitoring for the HVCB and its possibility and necessity, based on the conception of device maintenance of Electrical Power System. Analyzed the travel-time characteristic and principle of the open (close) coil current of breakers, and studied and built the system of on-line Monitoring for HVCB, and further researched feasibility of the on-line Monitoring and Full-automatic Control System.Combined need of condition evaluation and diagnosis with actual operability and selected technical parameters that indicate the circuit breaker operation status as the evaluation factors. Aaccording to the catastrophe theory and the intrinsic mechanism of the HVCB, divided the complex system into some subsystems and established the comprehensive evaluation model. According to different influenced degree of various evaluate factor for the working condition of HVCB, determined the fuzzy membership grade function, and then carred out quantize recursion calculation with unitary formula, determined the value of total breaking membership function to analyze the working condition of the HVCB.Through examples proved that the evaluation model can combine all kinds of parameters which represent the operational status of HVCBs, and effectively evaluate overall performance of HVCBs.
