The whip tower crane is the key equipments in architecture industry. With thedevelopment and prevalence of computers, the computation technology is being applied inmore and more industries,and the computation method is incorporated with traditional technologies more and more tightly in the mechanics industry. Now the whip tower crane is tend to large-scale, automatic and intelligent.In the paper, the development and optimization application of crane domestic and abroad is presented. Analyzed The structure model, the structure of the mechanical model, calculated load and the situation was analyzed of the tower crane. A dynamic optimum design method is proposed. A dynamic optimum mathematical model of tower structure system is establishes to optimize the dynamic stiffness. The key mode frequency is determined via mode analysis and harmonic response analysis. Considerting this frequency as objective function sensitivity analysis has been done for all structure parameters to decide the dynamic optimum design variables. Dynamic optimum mathematic model is built with restrains of structure mass, static strength, static stiffness and dynamic displacement response amplitude. The result of analysis shows that after optimum, both static and dynamic characters are improved signigicantly, as well as lighten structure mass and decreasing manufacture cost effectively.The research method and the results in this paper are also adapted to any other mechanics analysis.
