With the aging of the asphalt pavement, a large amount of asphalt pavements have reached the trigger point carry out the rehabilitation or reconstruction. Thus, the utilization of the current aged asphalt pavement becomes a main issue need to be solved for the purpose of ecological environment protection and aggregate resources recycling. However, one of the promising methods is asphalt pavement recycling.A detailed study was carried out on the hot plant recycling of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP), performance test of RAP, design of recycling mixture and performance test on recycled asphalt mixture, which was based on a rehabilitation of a expressway in GuangDong Province.Abson asphalt recovery test was. improved and its technical requirements was pointed out. Some management measures for asureing the stability of RAP was defined.A design guide for recycling asphalt mixture was proposed, the content of RAP in total asphalt mixes should be between 20% to 50%. The regenerant played an important part in the performance of recycled mixture, and an optimum mix amount was found. The main features of hot plant recycling mix design is to consider the RAP as a certain aggregate, to test the performance of aggregates and asphalt of RAP, thus to decide the RAP ratio according to the requirements of aggregate and asphalt.It was found that the performance at high temperature of the asphalt mix that contained RAP is better than new asphalt mix, the higher content it is, the better performance will get; The fatigue properties of mix contained RAP without long-term aging is worse than new asphalt mix, the higher content it is, the worse fatigue performance will get, but long-term aging fatigue performance appears to be the same; The anti-water damage performance is no difference between mix with RAP and new asphalt mix, but after long-term ageing a significant difference will get; The performance at low temperature of mix that contained RAP is a little worse than new asphalt mix, the higher contentment it is, the more significant difference will get.In this study, a conclusion was proposed that the long-term performance of asphalt mix with RAP material is the same as new asphalt mix, and the high temperature performance is even better.
