With the development of society and technology, various new elerical devices have been widely used in all fields in society. Because the devices need high safety and high accuracy, it is more exacting on the utilization and demand of electricity. However, the massive use of non-linear loads has incurred heavy pollution of electricity and jeopardized the safety function of the system and the electical devices.This paper introduced the basic concepts of electic harmonics.The characteristics of various common harmonics in low-voltage electricity distibution grid are analyzed and discussed. Because the Power factor of the power grid of induction heating systeam is low , the THD of power side current is high. The paper builds a simplify simulation system of induction heating systeam based on the real parameters of one 100KW/400kHz systeam. Makes a research about the trend of change of the reactive power and the current wave harmonics when the load is constant. Desigh a compensation project based on the identity of reactive power and current wave harmonics .Then builds a simulation model of compensator,and a serious experiment has been done based on it. The result shows that the compensator can raise the power factor greater than 0.90 and the THD also fall down.
