Existing research and practice indicated that:Superflex is a kind of high performance modified bitumen for the thin layer of asphalt overlay, it is able to withstand the unfavorable use environment test of large traffic volume, heavy vehicles, high temperature and rainy climate. In this paper, to explore Superflex modifiers on the performance of modified asphalt mixture effects, laboratory testing focused on studying Superflex modified bitumen blending process, the performance of modified asphalt and its mixture.Firstly, in this paper, conducted Superflex modified asphalt blending processes and the test of performance indicators, comprehensive consideration of different dosage of Superflex modifiers on asphalt the modification effect of the temperature sensitivity, high-temperature stability, middle-temperature fatigue resistance, low-temperature properties, and through comparison with the SBS modified asphalt test, determined the best dosage of Superflex modified asphalt. Based on the results of the test, because of Superflex modified asphalt the advantages of simple blending process, it is especially used for the small and medium projects or in remote areas of the road projects.Secondly, design the mix of the Superflex modified asphalt mixture. Reference the Marshall test design method, and combined with Superflex modified asphalt mixture's characteristics, designed the reasonable Superflex modified asphalt mixture.Thirdly, each experiment using high-temperature track test and low-temperature bending test, the Marshall immersion test and the freeze-thaw splitting test to research Superflex modified asphalt mixture's the performance of resistant mobility in high-temperature, resistant cracking in low-temperature and anti-water-damaged, and through comparison with the test of SBS modified asphalt mixture, verified the road performance of Superflex modified asphalt. Based on the results of the test, because Superflex modified asphalt has the characteristics of good temperature sensitivity and good resistance to fatigue, it is particularly suitable for high-temperature and rain-fed areas, and long-life pavement.Finally, based on Superflex modified asphalt has the characteristics of higher viscosity and good resistance to fatigue, put Superflex modified asphalt mixture applied to the White to black engineering in the stress-absorbing layer and the thin layer of asphalt overlay.Based on these results of the tests, proposed the scope of application of Superflex modified asphalt: the small and medium projects or in remote areas of the road projects; the highway projects in high-temperature and rain-fed areas; and White to black projects in the stress-absorbing layer and the thin layer of asphalt overlay.
