With massive increasing enrollment of colleges and universities since 1998, the amount of construction for the building at school has been increased dramatically. In order to meet the demand of the new concept of higher education, an integral classroom building emerged promoting the interaction between academic subjects and encouraging the share of resources. Hence, original room solely for teaching became into learning space for multi-purpose and overall interaction. With the coming of information era and continuous reforming of education concept and education model, the flexibility of teaching space is becoming more and more important. It is worthwhile to study on a topic that how the design of teaching space adapts such ever-changing tendency.Based on the fact that buildings erected at schools in nationwide with same production mode lacks of special features, the study was conducted in all the newly-built integral classroom buildings at colleges and universities in Xi'an. Firstly, based on the analysis of the use of the classroom buildings, summary and conclusions were made. Secondly, concerning students'behavioral and psychological demands, the scope of research in relation to adaptive design of integral classroom buildings were discussed. Combined with the comparison analysis of typical examples at home and abroad, the composition of adaptive design of integral classroom buildings was summed up. Finally, considering the location, culture, and climate of Xi'an, concrete design strategies were proposed. In addition, adaptive modification of some integral classroom buildings was also proposed in the article.
