Studies On Environment For Elders And Children In Urban Residential Areas

As the outdoor space environment is contacted most frequently by the elders and children in the urban residential areas. In the urban residential areas, the outdoor activity places for the elders and children constitutes an substantial part of the entire environment, and it aims to provide safe, comfortable and colorful spaces for outdoor activities of elders and children. Such good spaces can supply the elders and children with a good living environment, which not only makes a more complete environment of urban residential areas, but also enhance a better human environment in respecting the old and loving the young within the city.By virtue of the research results in Behavior Psychology, Environmental Ecology and Landscape Art etc, and based on the actual investigations of outdoor places and the researches of outdoor daily-activity places in Xi'an residential areas for the elders and children, this article studied the outdoor space environment of urban residential areas where the elders and children live from the main perspective of Environmental Art Design. As the basic part of theory, this article firstly researched the activity spaces of the elders and children in related theories. Specifically speaking, it analyzed such aspects as the mental and physical actions, behavior modes, activity spaces of the elders and children, as well as environment designs of their activity spaces in urban residential areas at this stage. Through the said actual findings on the outdoor activity spaces in established residential areas where the elders and children live, and according to the environment components of residential areas, this article analyzed respectively the current status and features of the elders and children's activities in the outdoor space environment of residential areas. With a specific case of study, At last, based on analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of outdoor environment in the specific case, this article explored a set of scientific and feasible principles and norms for the art design of outdoor space environment, for the purpose of making some contribution on the development of environmental art design in residential areas.
