Analysis Of The Study Courtyard In The South Classical Gardens

The south classical garden is an important part of Chinese classical garden, with the similar style of literati garden, it's quiet, elegant and simple, and stands for the highest artistic merit of Chinese classical garden. Professor Chen Congzhou thought "gardens are created and inspired by poems and essays, so, there must be studies and poetry slams". Studies are indispensable in south classical gardens; they are not only the literators'important places of recreation culture, but also the symbol of the Literates' identity. Study courtyards are accompanied by the studies, with strong cultural presence.Specific to the study courtyard of the south classical gardens, this paper mainly sets forth the history of study courtyard, collecting typical cases, and takes the cases for analysis purposes. In accordance with site selection, raumplanung, courtyard elements, summarizing characteristics, this paper also compares the study courtyards with other kinds of yards to obtain clear visions.
