Research Of Urban Sign System Design Based On Semiotics

With the rapid development of the society, the scale of the modern city is extended day by day, and the function and structure has became more and more complicated. As a direct bridge for communication between people and environment, urban sign system guides people to find the direction they need quickly and make the complex urban space simplified, hierarchical and systematic. City order and fast-paced life need effective guarantee, so urban sign system has become an indispensable part of city life. Rationally designed urban sign system can also reflect city cultural foundation and show the levels of the city'civilization and management. Great attention has been paid to research of urban sign system with realistic significance.Urban sign system is a set of integrated and consistent guidance system or coordinated, systemic and complete introduction system consists of signs, which aims to solve the problem of orientation in urban circumstance. Semiotics is a common theory subject which studies the essence, development rules, significance of symbols and the interrelationship between symbols and symbols, symbols and humans. On the basis of the semiotics theory, this paper gives a very detailed exploration of the design of urban sign system from the point of society-human-environment. This paper aims to study a set of complete, reasonable and widely applicable theories about urban sign system for directing the practical design, and information can be communicated accurately and recognized instantaneously through this system.This paper proposes urban sign system design principles based on semiotics principles. A region level model for sign system according to way-finding behavior and urban space division was designed. This part also sums up urban sign system design process. This paper provides a detailed analysis of graphical symbols and signs from form, color, character, molding, materials, processing technology, scale, proportion, position and etc, which is the core of this paper. Finally, taking Jinan Olympic Sport Center as an example, this paper analyzes the existing disadvantages, and then gets the design scheme based on the theory study. Therefore, this paper verifies the correctness and feasibility of the research contents through practice.
