Direct air-cooling unit of a thermal power has the operational characteristics of saving energy and the advantages of improving fans and electromotors.This paper, firstly ,focuses on the operational characteristics and structural features of the 600MW direct air-cooling units,,giving the selection principle for backpressure of a direct air-cooling Unit , proving that external impact of effecting backpressure of air-cooling unit is windward wind speed of a air-cooled condenser and the rotational speed of fans with frequency-converter control . Secondly, Using MICROMASTER430 converter which is used by Dalat 2×600MW power plant as research object, focusing on the main content and related theories of the technology of variable frequency, demonstrating the characteristics and advantages of the air-cooling fan inverter, and its economics is analyzed deeply. determining the optimal operation way of the air-cooling fans and putting the corresponding measures. The work of this paper provides a certain reference value for the application of frequency-converter in the 600MW direct air-cooling unit.
