According to the characters of two 300Mw coal-fired power units in Guangdong, it makes a comparative research about applying the Selective Catalytic Reaction (SCR) technology and the low-NOx combustion technology aiming to the nitrogen oxides controlling problems. The research results evinced that SCR technology is the preferred gas denitration technology for this plant. We suggest using the low-temperature economizer scheme when implementing the SCR gas denitration engineering of number 10 and 11 boilers in this plant, and considering more than 80% removal efficiency during the SCR system design in the long run. The primary economical analysis shows that the total engineering cost is 17,224 million, the average unit cost is about 30,870 per Kw, and the actual adding running cost of denitration equipment is 2,050 million, which means the running cost increased by every KWh is 0.0056. Every year the total NOx emissions can be decreased 9277 tons.After putting the denitration equipment into operation, it not only improves the plant's surrounding atmosphere quality, but also is beneficial to the control of total pollutant emission's amount.
