The Study Of Suzhou Classic Garden: Tingfeng Garden

Suzhou classical gardens, great representative of Chinese classical private gardens, use the unique garden technism by piling of rockeries and layout of waters, and planting flowers and woods to configure garden architecture, forming humanistic impressionistic landscape gardens which are rich in poetic and artistic conception in the limited space of city and creating harmonious and compatible dwelling environment which stick a balance between human and nature inside the city. Suzhou classical gardens are Chinese national treasure, so in terms of the comparatively well-maintained Suzhou gardens we'd try to carry out the systematical and comprehensive information, making collection, analysis, and reasonable protection and utilization. It's our contemporary obligation and responsibility.This thesis expounds the development process of Suzhou gardens, its prosperity reasons, garden artistic characteristics, gardening conception and comprehensive feature of Suzhou gardens, then choose the study courtyard of Suzhou Magistrate Wuyun in Qing Dynasty—Tingfeng Garden to compile, summarize and analyze from four parts. The first part is history and humanism, the geographical position the origin of its name and past owners is introduced; The second part is gardening art , analyed the garden design of Tingfeng garden from piling of rockeries, layout of waters, building and plants, which is the Four Major Factors in garden design. The third part of this article introuduces feature of Tingfeng gardens. The last part is about utilization and protection ,repairing advices are raised and hopefully has illuminating effects on protection of Suzhou classical gardens and design of modern gardens.
