Abstract/Summary:
The classical gardens of Jiangnan are located in the region of Jiangnan,an ideal spiritual home in the hearts of traditional Chinese literati.It takes the spiritual pursuit and aesthetic qualities of the garden maker as the starting point,and uses art,philosophy and architecture to express and present nature artificially.The aesthetic experience of classical gardens in the south of the Yangtze River is not only on the appreciation of its form and style,but also need to summarize the overall artistic characteristics and dig deeper philosophical implications,in order to grasp its profound garden concept.Its graceful and tranquil gardening techniques and its highly artful composition and layout are the result of the ingenuity of literary artists,the work of countless skilled craftsmen,and the richness and depth of Oriental wisdom.This thesis therefore explores the artistic characteristics of classical gardens in Jiangnan and explores the richness of gardening ideas in the hope of providing constructive suggestions and inspiration for the future pluralistic development of garden art in China.This paper takes the classical gardens of Jiangnan as the object of study,firstly by sorting out the historical development stages of the classical gardens of Jiangnan and analyzing the overall artistic characteristics formed during their development,It contains the beauty of the landscape and the wilderness,without saying a word;it is cleverly borrowed,and the scenery is different at every step;time and space are intertwined,and the real and the imaginary are created;poetry and painting,and the meaning is connected;Secondly,the artistic characteristics of the classical gardens of Jiangnan,such as the Garden of Liou,the Garden of Couple,the Garden of Qiu Xia and the Humble Administrator’s Garden,are analysed and studied in order to show the ecological consciousness and aesthetic ideals of the Chinese people to future generations in a natural and intuitive way,and to explore the philosophical implications of the artistic characteristics of the classical gardens of Jiangnan as a whole.It then explores the dilemmas and modern values of the art of classical gardens in Jiangnan forfuture generations of gardens and living concepts.To this day,the classical gardens of Jiangnan remain a comprehensive medium of communication between the Chinese and the natural landscape,a collective wisdom and crystallisation of traditional art and craftsmanship,and an important influence and value.It will be hoped that the artistic charm of the classical gardens of Jiangnan will be comprehensively displayed in the contrast between the ancient and the modern,and between the East and the West,highlighting the great wisdom of national culture.The classical gardens of Jiangnan have survived for thousands of years,transcending time and space as well as historical changes,accumulating a rich cultural connotation and gardening ideology,and also comprehensively demonstrating the Chinese people’s sentiment for life and survival wisdom towards nature.It combines poetry and painting,twists and turns,and it allows visitors to stop and watch,to travel and live,and to reminisce.This paper therefore aims to discover the artistic characteristics and the roots of the artistic charm of classical gardens in Jiangnan from the artistic perspective of truth,goodness and beauty,in the hope of providing inspiration for future generations of gardening art in terms of ecological concepts;It also hopes to provide a reference for future generations to build a harmonious and happy concept of life;In the hope that more people will pay attention to the classical gardens of Jiangnan and carry forward the national wisdom and cultural spirit contained therein.
