With the rapid development in industries such as mechanical manufacturing,electronics,automotive and aerospace, all complex parts require high-precision coordinate measuring machine for their development and production. The traditional coordinate measuring machine can only be pulled by operators to complete the surface measurements. The measuring efficiency has failed to keep pace with scientific research,testing and production.The coordinate measurement system based on vision measurement introduced vision measurement technology into the CMM measurement process. By processing the collected image, the three coordinate measuring machine based on Vision Measurement system obtain the exact location of the surface to be measured, then guide the coordinate measuring machine to complete the automatic measurement. Combining the high-precision of coordinate measuring machine with the flexibility of Vision measurement technology, this method can highly improve the efficiency of the coordinate measuring machine.Departure from the Vision measurement technology, a detailed description of Vision measurement technology's applications in the coordinate measuring machine flexible measurements is given, positioning algorithms is studied primarily, and a coordinates positioning system based on Vision measurement is developed. The studies mainly on the following aspects:1 The solution of the coordinate measuring machine based on Vision measurement is analyzed in detail. The solution succeeded in combining the high-precision of coordinate measuring machine with the flexible of Vision measurement technology, ensure accuracy and efficiency for the three-coordinate measuring machines;2 The CMM measurement system software based on Vision measurement is developed. The software owns such features:modules complete, reliable performance, beautiful interface and easy operation, the software can be used as system working, system experiment, system demos and data processing; 3 Camera calibration technology and positioning technology is researched, a position located method by using a rectangular box and curve is suggested, which greatly improve the efficiency of locating process. The CMM path planning for automatic measurements is finished, and the feasibility of the method is confirmed by the simulation results;4 By analyzing varieties of edge detection algorithm, a better Pratt method to evaluate the edge detection algorithm's performance is suggested. The new method has a clear principle, support simple operations, which can be used as a reference to evaluate the performance of the edge detection algorithm.5 According to the software design, hardware installation and commissioning, the online test platform with BAYSIDE and CMM positioning experiment is completed. The experimental data show that the system's position accuracy of less than 3mm.
