| The development of public transportation system (PTS) is the most efficient approach to resolve the traffic problems in a metropolis. PTS information can improve the work efficiency and service level and accelerate the management transfer from simple static pattern to intelligent dynamic one. Departing at fix point and driving along fix line, bus appears its own characteristics during the trip. The buses equipped with GPS collect the information of bus travel time, running speed, location, etc. Analyzing such real-time information through appropriate analytical methods and models make it possible to mine the bus driving characteristics.The paper gave an overview to the GPS Vehicle Monitoring and Dispatching System, analyzed the characteristics of bus GPS data; estimated the average speed of different line segment of the bus through exponential smoothing model; analyzed the distribution characteristics of bus headway and arrival interval during the trip, at the same time, bus punctuality analyzed.Bus Timetable is the key work of Bus Scheduling. The paper established a bus departure time model based on GPS real-time information, with a view to ease the phenomenon of bus bunching in order to further improve public transport service levels. |
