Study On The Comprehensive Urban Design Of Chang'an Distinct In Xi'an Referring To The Historical Context

The comprehensive urban design plays an important role in guiding the overall urban spatial development, image-building characteristics and controling of landscape environment. Historical context is an important connotation of the city, and it is also a comprehensive integration of characteristics of urban culture in different stages and aspects. Especially with the cultural values of people in recent years has been strengthening, the influence of cultural connotations to urban development is also increasing.This article focused on the inherent relationship between the historical context and the overall urban design, and then conducted in-depth discussion of the feasibility, necessity, feasibility and guidance on the overall urban design with history context using the methods of theoretical research combining empirical research.First of all, this article demonstrated the necessity of the comprehensive urban design combining history context for the practical problems on city image features missing in the national urban development.Secondly, Based on the concept, content, type (content) of historical context and the overall urban design, this paper also demonstrated the feasibility of combination from three rispects:unity between the objects,correspondence between features and correspondence between the content.Thirdly, combination strategy was proposed from operational levels which includes three goals, four principles and combination of methods which based on historical context classification and overall urban design elements. It answered the question of the approach to combination from the theoretical level.Further more, this paper taking the comprehensive urban design of Chang'an distinct in Xi'an as an example conducted empirical study on the overall urban design combining with history context taking the theoretical research results as a guide. Five design objectives was proposed by abstracting the district historical context of Chang'an and summing up the problems of status. After then, the article proposed the space image of "undulating mountains and plateaus, interlocked city and country and smooth visual landscape", the pattern of urban spatial development symbiosised by "mountains, water, plateau, the city and farmland", the overall landscape framework of "a nucleus, three points, three axis and four pieces" and the cultural venues system of "two rings, three pieces and multiple points".Finally, the writing raised the understanding and outlook on the comprehensive urban design combining with the historical context.
