A Preliminary Study On Construction Of Plant Landscape In Chinese Religious Garden

Plant landscape was an important part of religion garden and also the main comprising element in religion landscape space. As one of the important mediums, it also took the role of disseminating religious culture and expressing religious ideas. In terms of plant species selection, plant configuration, and plant landscape artistic conception creating, religious garden landscape specially showed its uniqueness in religion space organization. Researches about religious plant would perform much meaning reference in development of religion plant landscape and creating of modern urban plant sights.Firstly, the paper analysis lots of religion landscape information, summed up the characteristics of religious plants, summarized the common plants used in the religion landscape in North China, South China and East China. Through the selective analysis of Beijing, the paper studied 8 religion landscapes, including Fayuan Temple, Temple of Azure Clouds. Reclining Buddha, Lama Temple, Dongyue temple, the Confucius Temple and Niu Jie Mosque temple. Based on the study of the constitution and quantity of the plants in 7 places and the analysis of the other religion landscapes, the paper pointed out the characteristics and the problems of Beijing's religion landscape. Secondly, the paper studied the information of religion landscape in Chengde of North China, Ningbo of East China, Ningxia of Northwest China, Xiamen of South China and summarized the charactoristics of religion landscape in each place. At last, the paper proposed several suggestions of the development of religion landscape and the inspirations of modern landscape planning.
