After the reform and opening up, the economy of China has been developed with a unparalleled speed. Along with the sustainable development of economy and deep-going urbanization, while expansion of urbanization, urban population has been keeping increasing. And while local automobile industry growing up, the number of personal cars has been rising day by day.Enjoying the preferential policies for western development and its own unique strategic position, Chengdu has achieved fast development. Chengdu now is the international hub for tourism, the state pilot base for coordinating urban and rural comprehensive reform, the center for technology, finance, business and trade in west China, the hub for traffic and telecommunication and new industrial base. Driving by the strong development momentum, the vehicle population has been increased from about 700,000 in 2001 to 2,000,000 now. Chengdu has become the third largest city for automobile in China.Guided by "Eleventh Five-Year Planning" strategy and the policies against global financial crisis on investment in railways to stimulate domestic demand, railway industry has gone into a period for large scale construction. The capability for railway operating and competing has been improved by vigorous construction of PDL and inter-city railways. The number of railway lines to link up hub cities has been increased by different degree. The structure for road network has been more rational, the service quality has been obviously improved and the traffic flow has been jumped up accordingly. Along with continuously raised capability and quantity of railways, research on coordinated development for railway passenger stations and urban traffic is significantly realistic for development of railways and cities.Railway junction passenger station, the linking point for inner and inter cities traffic, is the holding point for integration of "point-line-area". Started with the development of cities and railway passenger stations and the change between their relations, this article mainly analyze how to coordinate the relation between railway passenger stations and urban traffic in Chengdu, based on the study on general information of social and economic development in Chengdu and current status of urban traffic and railway junctions, and the theories for coordination between railway passenger station and urban traffic combined with features of railway traffic in chengdu. After the study on the relation between main railway passenger stations in hub cities and urban development and the analysis on the existing problems emerged on linking passenger stations with urban traffic, the methods for regional rational distribution and the balance between railway passenger stations and urban traffic have been worked out, and the crucial point and limiting factor for urban traffic coordination has been found.
