Crane beam system is an important bearing system of industrial buildings and steel crane beams are widely used. Steel crane beams account for about 16%-35%of the total amount of steel, it's a large proportion. Therefore, how to ensure the safety of crane beams and make them more economical while designing has important practical significance.At present, the industrial buildings in our country generally use the simply supported crane beams. By the loading features of the continuous beams, we know that in the same load conditions, compared with simply supported beams, continuous beams can reduce the deflection and positive moment. Also, the continuous beams in the case of overloading allowed force redistribution, so they are more economical and have a higher safety factor. In current reinforcements of crane beams, there are some practices that change simply supported crane beams to continuous beams. It is clear that continuous crane beams have practical applications. Currently, the domestic steel design software can only design and check crane beams with simply supported, there is no continuous crane beams software to meet the needs of projections.In view of this, this paper study of basic theories of how to compute the internal forces and deflections of the continuous steel crane beams firstly. Then, on the basis of extensive literatures, the author finds an easy way to check the elastic stability of continuous steel crane beams. Finally, according to the existing norms, the author develops a program of a two-span continuous steel crane beam using the VB program under Windows system. The two-span continuous steel crane beams here have the same spans and the same I-sections along the beams. This program can complete the designing and checking of a two-span continuous steel crane beam, and it can also draw of internal force envelopes and output the calculation files.The studies in this paper provide a practical way to design a continuous steel crane beam. It has some theoretical and practical values. The program is simple and practical, and it's a good helper to structural engineers.
