With the development of economic and society, floor space development has become saturated, so the development of underground space has become a major trend in society. Hence, deeper and larger foundation pit excavation and associated shoring has become a hot topic of geotechnical engineering.This paper depply studied the current conventional method of foundation pit design and numerical simulation of geotechnical engineering. This article relies on Beijing Daxing Line Metro Station ~ end of interval Temple Hospital U-groove of Deep Foundation Pit project, studied respectively conventional design methods and numerical simulation application. The main arguments used in conventional methods of geotechnical design software is the foundation pit excavation and support structure design, on the other hand, FlAC3D software is used to carry on the numerical simulation, considering different deformation and displacement under different operating conditions of excavation. Some good results are obtained in this paper.In addition, this paper analysed the results from these two methods and pointed out the shortcomings of this approach, futhermore set up a new direction for futhure research work.
