Because of the coverage advantages, in recent years, power line communication network, has been paid more and more attention at home and has become the hotspot of research as a new communications medium. OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing), of which the features of anti-multipath fading and anti-frequency selective fading characteristics, is the first choice for broadband power line communication solution. Channel estimation is one of the key technologies of OFDM; its performance has a direct effect on the reliability and efficiency of the system. This article focuses on the channel estimation for power line communication based on the OFDM.First of all, nowadays researches with broadband power line communication, especially channel estimation are discussed. Analysis of OFDM principle and the characteristics along with pro and con for OFDM broadband power line communications are described, which help to understand the significance of channel estimation of OFDM power line communication.Secondly, theory and implementation methods based on OFDM have been studied in-depth to emphasize a number of key technologies. With the help of MATLAB software, which serve as the simulation OFDM communication system, Simulation result of the channel estimation algorithm provides the theory foundation for experiment.Third, experiment results are analyzed, which includes low-voltage power line channel impedance characteristics, attenuation characteristics, noise characteristics and time-varying characteristics. Such result are produced by Devolo with the power line modem dLAN200 in the communication interference experiment, which focus of different low-voltage power grid load access the impact of communication. Finally, pilot-assisted channel estimation algorithm is deeply studied, the estimated performance of several algorithms are verified by simulation using MATLAB software. For it is necessary Pilot Assisted Channel Estimation Pilot to send signals, which reduces the effective bandwidth and utilization rate of resources, further competition will be self-organizing neural networks is applied to the blind channel estimation algorithm, and simulation results is provided.
