With the development of transportation, the tunnel becomes more and more common.Fire accident which caused by the craffic crush and the burn of goods is frequent. Fire accident in tunnel is very serious.Nowadays,the cament pavement is the major form in the tunnel of our country. Comparing with the cament pavement,the asphalt pavement is more anti-slip and more smooth.The asphalt pavement is more suitable in tunnel but the asphalt with burning oil release more toxic gas and smoke.It is very necessary to research a flame retardant asphalt for the tunnel.At first,the paper specify the flame retardancy of the asphalt and introduce limited oxygen index evaluation method of asphalt.And it also put forward the sample preparation and test condition.It study the modified asphalt and halogen flame retardant asphalt and intumescent flame retardant asphalt pavement performance and flame retardancy with different proportion.The result shows that intumescent flame retardant asphalt APP/MA/PER have less effect to asphalt's physician properties and have the same flame retardancy ,and more effective at smoke suppression.So it is advised to add 8% APP/MA/PER to modified asphalt.Through researching the flame retardant asphalt mixture and marshal piece and rutting plate's burning time and burning temperature and smoke amount to evaluate the retardant and smoking effects.Research shows that MH instead part mineral powder have better retardant and smoking effects.It recommended MH which account for 30%asphalt content instead mineral powder.Using thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry to study flame retardant mechanism of different flame retardant asphalt. Through analyzing DSC-TG curve to reveal the flame retardant mechanism.
