With the asphalt pavement used in tunnel more and more, the security problems of fire prevention capture more and more attention. The asphalt is combustible material, so there have dangers of fire in tunnel that asphalt pavement was used. Research flame retardant asphalt and apply in the tunnel is a historical advance. This paper selected three kinds of flame retardant(flame retardant 1, flame retardant 2, flame retardant 3) ,to research the flame retardant property of the tunnel road. For the former part, this paper researched The Oxygen Index of three kinds of flame retardant asphalt with five of mixing amounts. According to the experiment result, The Oxygen Index of three kinds of flame retardant asphalt was increased a lot. After the experiment on the high temperature stability, the low temperature stability, and the water stability, the results show that the flame retardant asphalt has good high temperature stability, and other pavement performances can also meet the demands. But if the mixing amount increased exceed than a certain number, the low temperature stability and the water stability were influenced much. To simulate the burning circumstances in tunnel road, the marshall specimens of the flame retardant asphalt mixture were burned. Based on the result, the flame retardant 1 operated quickly, with a poor effect at first; and the flame retardant 3 operated slowly, but it can prevent the burning from the very beginning; and the flame retardant 2 played a peer performance, but in several mixing amounts, it exerted well to prevent the asphalt mixture from burning.
