Sheet metal parts are widely applied in these industries, such as automobile, electronic, light industry, aerospace, and so on. According to statistics, sheet metal parts hold nearly 90% of the metal products market. As market demand growing up day-by-day, to improve design speed and quality further is needed.To unfold the sheet metal correctly is the most important work of sheet metal design. The traditional method to unfold sheet metal is completed all through artificial, in recent years, some CAD design system integrated parts of sheet metal design functional module more or less, but it still exists some problems, such as requesting excessively high to designer and manufacturer, easy to make a mistake, high rejection rate, oversized work load of the design and programming.Informatization technology attracts much attention nowadays, in order to promote informatization development of the sheet metal design profession, reduce design cycle of sheet metal parts, enhance utilization ratio of the plate, sheet metal unfold design as the target in the article, its unfold calculation, drafting and data storing under network environment are studied, and its prototype system based on Web is developed. Its simple operation interface and fast accurate design process satisfies the need of diversification and complicate design and cartography nowadays, which also no longer to limited to complicated manual computation mapping or tedious procedure code compilation. Such progress has been mainly made through the studying of the article:First, the foundational B/S pattern construction of the sheet metal unfolding system is constructed using the homepage and Web Service technologies, and the user's role management mechanism is realized.Then, sheet metal is classified based on characteristic before unfolding. In foundation of researching sheet metal unfolding calculation methods, the middleware design to the AutoCAD and SolidWorks re-development under network environment is implemented through high-level programming language of Visual C#.Finally, user's subscriber data and sheet unfolding data are all stored in SQL Server database through ADO.NET.Right user only need input the known unfolding parameters to the browser interface in the system, then the corresponding sheet metal unfolding draft and three dimensional drawing can be obtained easily, which reduced the task of design greatly, beneficial to improve production and economic efficiency, easy to provide design service for minor enterprise and solve its problem of lacking product design ability, adapted the need of networking and modern manufacturing industry informatization.
