In recent years,the appearance of atrium in residential building brings more potential space in using natural ventilation.This paper takes residential building with atrium as the studying object,and defines the oudoor airflow which enter into indoor through the windows as transverse airflow,and analyses characteristics of airflow in natural ventilation in residential building with atrium by the numbers makes use of the method of CFD numerical simulation.First of all,this paper carries out some numerical simulations toward a residential buildings with atrium in Changsha which has measured.The results indicate that the value of simulation agree well with the measurement.The calculational model and method in this paper can simulate the real instance of natural ventilation indoor.With the calculational model and method have validated ,this paper carry out a serises of numerical simulations toward natural ventilation of residential buildings with atrium in different instances under the dominant effect of wind pressure and heat pressure respectively ,and numerical calculate the natural ventilation under the effect of wind pressure and heat pressure together with the summer climate in Changsha.The results of study indicate that:(1)The turbulent model of RNGκ-εimproved can simulate natural ventilation indoor correctly.(2)Under the dominant effect of wind pressure,the position of transverse airflow has nothing to do the amount of ventilation in atrium ,but the amount of corridor windows'open affect directly;The entry aera of transverse airflow affects the amount of ventilation more than the exit aera;The wind velocity decides ventilation effect directly,and the more the better.(3)Under the dominant effect of heat pressure, the position of transverse airflow can affect the amount of ventilation in atrium ,and the location in the ground floor is the better;The addition of corridor windows'open can increase ventilation obviously;As the entry aera of transverse airflow, the exit aera affects the amount of ventilation largely;The temperature difference between indoor and outdoor affects the ventilation directly, and the more the better. (4)Base on the summer climate in Changsha,the existence of atrium increases the air flow,can improve thermal environment indoor effectively.the temperature indoor is low than outdoor 0.65℃-2.3℃because of atriums'ventilation.The full use of natural ventilation in atrium can lower the temperature indoor obviously,the well open of Surrounding windows can cut down the temperature indoor 1℃-2.37℃.
