The calculation of wide ,which is required when ship through the curved sections of aircraft, is great significance for safe navigation for ships. In recent decades, many research institutes at home and abroad have done a corresponding study, the results brought great convenience to widening curved reach of channel. However, there is less than 1 is that the drift angle are used, which are required from the trials come, rather than use quantitative mathematical methods calculated. The main purpose of this paper is to explore a concise and accurate mathematical model ,which can based on the ship size and performance, directly calculate the required bend angle and the required drift wide flight can flow conditions.In this paper, we have a systematic analysis to the development's history and status of calculation research of bending sections of fairway width , and determine the major factors which impact the required width ,they are the drift curve angle, the distance of migration, wealthy width, flow rate, accounting for wide fairways, wind and others, and combined with ship model test in Shipai turn and bend Huanglingmiao, which is a part of the western transport construction projects - the conditions of inland waterway navigation key technology research project , conducted the following study.Because many factors effect the required channel width when the ship sail at curved waterway, according to the experimental data,has been to identify the major factors, and analysis it using the linear regression and multiple linear regression function , establish the required width of curve calculation model and the corresponding hypothesis test to determine its reliability.In this paper, combine with the western transportation construction projects - the key technical studies of conditions of inland waterway navigation, carry out practical research; use the formula in bend Huanglingmiao and Shipai turn ship model test to verify the calculation, at the same time based on the information of other existing ship and ship model test, combine with previous theoretical results, test the formula's adaptability and reliability in resolving the practical issues. The results show that the calculation model fit calculating the width required when sailing in multiple types of curved sections of waterway under the influence of many conditons. The most prominent feature of the calculation model is that the calculation of the parameters are not required to provide the necessary tests, just to know flow pattern,the geometric size of ship (ship model) and speed, it can be applied, the calculation is simple, the results is reliable.
