Developed by Forest Science Department of Oregon State University of United States, FRAGSTATS is a kind of calculating software applied to landscape indices. FRAGSTATS 3.3---- the latest version----not only provides easy-to-use graphical interface visualization, but also increases the number of new index, and modifies the calculation of part indexes, in order to enlarge its scope of application and improve its accuracy. With Landscape Ecology principle and the results of on-site inspection, and Based on the classification of Huhhot Qingcheng Park landscape element, using the above-mentioned landscape analysis software and GIS Graphic Materials, a number of landscape indices which have been calculated from these three levels (patches, types, and landscape) are used to analyze the characteristics of landscape spatial patterns of Qingcheng Park. The selected landscape indices include patch type area CA, Percentage of landscape PLAND, number of patches NP, mean patch size MPS, area weighted mean shape index AWMSI, Area weighted mean patch fractal dimension AWMPFD, mean nearest distance MNN, aggregation AI, combined degree COHESION, spread index CONTAG, Shannon diversity index SHDI, Shannon evenness index SHEI, Simpson diversity index SIDI, corridor area AREA, connectivity r, Ring degreeα, etc. The results show that:1. The overall landscape layout of Qingcheng Park is basically rational; its landscape structure is comparatively stable, and different types of green patches are the mixed model of centralization and decentralization---- no matter the distribution or the shape, which fits in with Forman's ideal landscape model.2. Water bodies for the skeleton, garden paving for the context, the landscape Pattern of Qingcheng Park is rational. Its different types of green patches are distributed to adapt to the respective functions to form the abundant landscape.3. Compared the precompiled partitions on the diversity of trees in the park with its area, the results show that manual design and management is the leading factor of tree species diversity in parks'green patches.
