Study On The Waterproofing And Bonding Layer Of Concrete Bridge Deck

The waterproofing and bonding layer is an important part of bridge deck pavement. It is an effective measure for ensuring and improving the service performance of bridges to set waterproofing and bonding layer. Nowadays in China, the study on this topic is faulty, and it results in a considerable blindness in the stages of design and construction. Many bridge decks have diseased caused by the deterioration of waterproofing and bonding layer, so it is necessary to make more study on it.In this paper, based on the three representative types of waterproofing and bonding materials, such as Solvent Binder, Water Asphaltic Paint and SBS Modified Asphalt, a general test program about shear and tensile strength was made. For shear strengths, it considered five different factors, such as type of material, test condition, concrete deck surface treatment, mix type and shear ratio. For tensile strengths, it considered three different factors, such as type of material, test condition and concrete deck surface treatment. Also, the fatigue performance and waterproof performance of waterproofing and bonding layers were studied in laboratory.Based on test results, the four main factors and most of two-way interactions and three-way interactions were significant to shear strengths. Type of material and test condition were significant to tensiler strengths, but concrete deck surface treatment and factor interactions were not significant. The study of fatigue performance indicated the linear relation of stress ratio and log fatigue life, and the study of waterproof performance indicated that the thickness of membrane was the most importment factor. Based on the general analysis, Solvent Binder was suggested to be used in the engineering project. Also, the paper studied the construction technique of Solvent Binder and introduced the corresponding measures for real-time control and to ensure the construction quality.
