Research On Performance Of Epoxy Aspalt Mixture On Long-span Steel Bridge Deck

Epoxy asphalt is composed of asphalt, epoxy resin, curing agent and other additive, which has excellent physical performance and mechanical performance with its thermoset property. Epoxy asphalt mixture has higher strength and toughness, better anti-fatigue performance, temperature stability, anticorrosion property and bonding force than conventional asphalt mixture. Therefore, the research on epoxy asphalt concrete for long-span steel deck pavement was introduced and applied abroad in China.On the base of abundant steel deck pavement studies, we compared the behavioural research and comprehensive evaluation of American epoxy asphalt and Japan epoxy asphalt. Then their applicability are discussed to accelerate the process of steel deck pavement technology.To compare the two kinds epoxy asphalts'behavioural differences, kinds of tests are made, such as mensuration of viscosity curve, BBR test, softening point test and so on. Then it makes target mixture proportion design to study on the aggregate scope, optimum asphalt content of mixture and respective technical requirements.After targets mixture proportion design of American and Japan epoxy asphalt, strength, high temperature stability, anti-crack performance in low temperature, water stability and anti-fatigue performance of mixture are researched on. Meanwhile, the economical programme comparison of the two kinds epoxy asphalt is studied though economic analysis.In the end, with the different performance of American epoxy asphalt and Japan epoxy asphalt, relative to the pavement of Guangzhou Zhujiang Whampoa bridge, we make the finally proposal. And the steel deck pavement construction technology requirements are brought forward in order to offer the reference in American epoxy asphalt and Japan epoxy asphalt concrete pavement using in China.
