The Variable Vector Propeller is a new type of propeller, it meet the need for variable direction thrust force, which conclude a group of revolving oar blades whose pitch angel change periodically. The oar pitch angel change periodically while turn around is the most outstanding feature of Variable Vector Propeller, it can move in any direction, so Variable Vector Propeller will be widely used in ocean engineering in the future. The design of cycloid principle pitch control mechanism is the main content of this paper. Based on elementary principle of eccentricity a new type eccentricity plate connecting rod lever pitch control mechanism is devised, and the oar blade pitch angle change periodically accord with cycloid principle. After modeling there are the analysis of oar position and angle state, movement calculation between step electromotor output and oar blade pitch angel, it also calculate mechanics of the thruster parts, so are the dimension and position relation. By platform of Pro/ENGINEER, the Variable Vector Propeller is assembled and kinematic emulated. By Mechanism/Pro interface of Pro/ENGINEER and ADAMS, the Variable Vector Propeller model is transmitted into ADAMS and optimized. The software kinematic and dynamics graph prove manual method validity. Combine Pro/ENGINEER and ADAMS is a good way for mechanism design and optimize. In this paper, a new type pitch control mechanism variable vector propeller is designed and analyzed by simulation based on relative information and examination home and abroad, also, the rational pitch control mechanism are received, which provides a beneficial reference for further research.
