With the socicial and economic development and the quickening of the small towns construction, the losses of villages and towns caused by climate disasters are increasing. During the wind-induced disaster were investigating in our courtry, it can be found that the most serious typhoon damages occured in the southeastern coastal areas where the main performance of the disaster was that a large number of low-rise residential houses were destroyed. Therefore, it has urgent practical and theoretical values to study on the damage risk of the low-rise houses of the coastal areas in our country under the typhoon damage.Based on the practical investigations of the Xiamen villages and the characteristics of local residents'self-built houses, the models of the houses were established. The risk analysis of the Xiamen area under the typhoon damage was carried out, which provided the references to the analysis on the damage risk of the low-rise houses of the analogous areas in our country under the typhoon damage. The following is a list of my works.Firstly, according to the sources of the instantaneous maximum wind-speed sources in Xiamen City from 1958 to 2007, the maximum wind speed per year was considered as the statistical sample, and the extreme type I distribution function was used to calculated the wind speed of the different return periods in Xiamen City, which was commonly applied at home and abroad. The corresponding statistical parameters were also gained. At the same time, based on the field research, the present situation of the rural houses in the Xiamen City was summarized, the typical structure of low-rise houses was established, and the characteristics of the resistance were caculated and analyzed, which provided the calculated basis for the analysis on destroyed risk.Secondly, according to the surface roughness categories, the roof slope angles and the open cases,the structures were divided into eight types.The reliability index of enclosure structures of both normal design and self-built houses were calculated by the JC method. The reliability index of the structural model of the standardized design was also compared with the one of the non-standard design. Meanwhile, based on the index, the most adverse circumstance of the structure damages caused by typhoon was judged.Lastly, by means of analyzing the cost components of the local low-rise houses and calculating the probability of the Typhoon occurrence and the failure of the structure in the Xiamen area, the damage risk of the structure under the most adverse circumstance was obtained.
