Now the internal-combustion engine is widely used and the energy is very lacking, so increasing the efficiency of the internal-combustion engine is urgent. Slot-and-crank gear is the typical gear that can convert reciprocating linear motion into rotation motion and has been used widely. However, Slot-and-crank gear has its own defects and its transmission efficiency is low. So Professor Liangxichang has invented a new engine called gear-sector engine (patent number ZL02133601). This engine adopts rack-and-pinion gear as power transmitting gear in the internal-combustion engine. Because the rack-and-pinion gear's transmission efficiency is 97%, higher 10% than the slot-and-crank gear, the gear-sector engine's gross efficiency is higher 4% than classical engines.The sector-gear and rack mechanism is the innovation of the sector-gear motor. So the paper mainly studies the mechanism of the motor. The model of gear-sector and rack had designed and manufactured. Also the dynamics simulation by ADAMS software and static finite element analysis by ANSYS software had done. At last, the experiments had done to research and analyze the mechanism. The major contents of this paper are as follows:①Introducing the main power transmitting mechanisms which used in the internal-combustion engine. Analyzing diversified transmitting mechanisms'performances and characteristics. Then introducing the development statements and futures of all structures and presented the main contents of the research.②The transmitting and structure of the sector-gear was introduced. Also the process of the designing of the sector-gear and the innovation of the motor was introduced. At last, the effect ion of the transmitting of the motor was analyzed and the character of motor was summarized. After analyzing the motion process of the transmitting mechanism, a fallibility place of the transmitting mechanism was found. A cam structure was designed to solve the problem.③The solid models of the motor's transmitting mechanism were built and assembled in the Proe 3D software. The assembled model was transformed into the ADMAS software. After defining every kind of revolution assistant, constraint assistant and collide, the virtual prototype model of the transmitting mechanism of the sector-gear motor was set up. The results of the dynamics of the mechanism were got after the dynamics simulation when all the motions and forces were defined. Also the results of the simulation showed the logical of the structure.④The ANSYS software and its new products ANSYS Workbench were introduced. The key parts (sector-gear, rack, and some others) of the transmitting structure of the sector-gear motor were analyzed in the ANSYS Workbench software. The figures of the maximum strain and the maximum stress were got by the analyzing. Also, by defining fixed constraint in the model which was predigested according to Saint-Venant Principle, the 20 lower-order natural frequencies and modes of the model were worked out.⑤Experiments were done about the sector-gear and rack mechanism which was the innovation of the sector-gear motor. In the experiments, the rack was drive by the step over electromotor, and the motion of the motor was controlled by PIC microchip. The control of the motor can simulate the motion of the sector-gear motor's motion when it was fired, the results of the experiment showed that the sector-gear and the rack can mesh well on some conditions.⑥Summarizing the main research work in this thesis, and predicting the further research as well.
