Mini vehicle has the characteristic of low-price and multi-purpose, which brings it the rapid growth in recent years. However, due to multiple impacts, such as the lack of corporate R & D strength, cost constraints, tough using conditions, etc, the Failure rate of its key components remains high. According to the quality records of a Mini vehicle company, the clutch failure take up the first place of IPTV and CPV value, which increase the company's cost and damage its Enterprise Image. Commissioned by the factory, the clutch's failure was studied, the following tasks were implemented.Firstly, the failure clutches in the company's old pieces library were investigated, the fault tree of clutch was summed up. The main fault phenomenon includes initial shaking, bad separation and clutch slipping, accounting for 81.69 percent of the total number of fault pieces; the main failure mode includes components damage, diaphragm Spring functions failure and abnormal wear, while abnormal wear accounts for 62.32 percent of all. Based on the failure situation, the research plan was developed, which means a comprehensive analysis of the diaphragm Spring clutch in dynamics and thermodynamics.Dynamic analysis of the key parts and components of diaphragm Spring clutch was carried out, the main contents includes driven film and clutch plate hub. The FE analysis results shows that static strengths are less than the yield strengths of materials, and mode analysis appears normal. The calculation of diaphragm spring's load characteristics shows that the separation force is normal, while the hold-down force is a little small.Thermodynamic analysis of mini vehicles friction pairs was implemented. UG was used to model the components of friction pairs, and finite element analysis was adopted to get its temperature field. The result shows that the temperature of friction pairs is high, the high temperature area of pressure plate is large, and heat load is large.On the basis of dynamics and thermodynamics, the parameters of diaphragm Spring were mended; 3 kinds of typical mini vehicle clutches were researched, the best pressure plate structure and friction disk material were selected, then an improvement program was put forward.Based on the idea of failure Exploration, many key components and parts of clutch were analyzed, the unreasonable aspects of clutch in structure and material were found out, and the improvement program was brought forward finally, thus providing a certain degree reference for the study of clutch.
