The main uses of Railway crane is to lift and rescue the railway train when they are toppled over or derailment. It also can be used in cargo handling, equipment installation along railway line, and pave track, change forks, build bridges etc in railway construction. Bu the development of national economy in our country, the development of China's railway has been put forward higher requirements. Ministry of Railways introduced batches of developed full locomotive vehicles from abroad to promote leapfrog development. It is an important strategy of improving the development of locomotives and rolling stock industries in our country. So it became more important for us to upgrade railway crane of our country further and new intelligent type product. Then we can fit the rescue job requests under new situation. Through the analysis of the current railway crane situation in and abroad, comparing the main differences between railway crane in our country and abroad, combining the current requests of railway development of our country and technical supports afforded by the development of electromechanical in our country to testify that it is quite necessary to design automatic telescopic balanced-weight mechanism by current technologies. It is feasible to do so.First of all, development overview, development trend of crane in and abroad and the key technologies were presented. Automatic telescopic balanced-weight mechanism was taken program design and principle analysis on it based on remained NS1601 type number 160 telescopic railway cranes. Then technology parameters of the main structure was determined; the key part (rotating table telescopic balanced-weight mechanism) of it was designed. Considering it's reliability, we used finite element technology to verify it's static strength. At last, we used ADAMS and MATLAB software to build dynamic model of automatic telescopic balanced-weight mechanism and simulate it. Gravity center automatic adjust was fulfilled when railway cranes lifts loads. At the same time the dynamic curve of it was acquired, it afford theory dependence to the design of railway crane.
