With the exhaustion of conventional resources, by and by the present energy structure which is based on conventional energy resources can't meet the needs of the sustainable development. So accelerating the research and utilization of renewable resources has become the common ideas of the human beings. Photovoltaic generation system can directly transform the energy of sunshine into the energy which has good quality—electric energy.The most important electricity generating equipment is the PV modules. The quality and the reliability of the PV module are the key factors of the whole PV electricity generating system. The idea of this paper comes from a serious accident in a PV power plant in Germany which is caused by the PV module being fired by the hot spot effect.The contents of this paper include:1 I introducing the actuality and foreground of PV electricity generating technology in the world and in China, and briefly introducing the specialty of PV electricity generation and its configuration.2 PV modules is the core of the PV electricity generation system.We introduced introducing the component and the structure of the PV module, analyzed the problem in existence, and put forward how to settle it.3 According to this scheme, we designed a kind of new PV module based on MOS transistors, MCU and infrared devices. The principle is to test the solar cells' exportation electric voltage timely. According to the voltage, the MCU knows the working state of the PV module, and controls the MOS transistors. In this way, we try to resolve the hot spot problem.4 On the former foundation, we extended the functions of the junction box of the PV modules.Since it can record the module's working state of the module and the environment, the module becomes intelligent.5 All the data are saved in the EEPROM connected to the MCU. And the EEPROM has a capability of 32K bytes, and it will not lose the data without power. It can hold the data for many years reliably.6 The data are transmitted with the infrared technology. This not only ensures the junction box being hermetic, but also makes transmission be very convenient. From this we make the PV modules be intelligent.
