| Along with fast development of Taizhou economy and wide expansion of construction, massive building quality problem appears. Crack is one kind of universal shortcoming of architectural engineering quality. It not only affects the building artistic and the use function, but also can destroy the building's integrity, affect the structure safety, even can reduce the durability of structure. Based on the statistical data of occupies, the quality suit of Taizhou area resident relate accounts for above 90% with the building cracks in recent years. Therefore, from the angle of economical, the impression and the normal use, the building crack controlling, retrofitting and the restrengthening are the problems which need to be solved urgently. This paper first introduces the local common crack type, and then the objective factors and the subjective reasons related to cracks have been investigated, which includes: design, raw material, construction craft, differential settlement, temperature stress, natural environment changes and so on. The paper summarized the effective controlling methods measures for all kinds of crack. In the paper the primary reason caused the crack and the control method in basement mass concrete are emphatically analyzed.Finally combining with actual projects in Taizhou area, after deep investigation of a market project on site, the paper introduces the reasons of appeared cracks on design, raw material, construction craft aspect, analyzes the wall differential temperature crack by finite element, proposes the corresponding corrective measure, and confirming the validity of measure in later study. In process of design and construction of mass concrete in Taizhou basement project, we proposed the reasonable effective crack control method from raw material selection, concretes mixture ratio, chemical additive, construction management and so on. It also has certain practical significance to guarantee that the project quality and the similar common failure occurrence.
