Concept Car Design Based On Theme And Form Feature

The research project is originated from"zhong qi"concept car design project and sub-project of the National basic research project of China"973"in Hunan University, "The Knowledge-base Industrial Design Assistant System. Product design is bases-on the knowledge of design".It is necessary to study the design method of the concept car for the complexity of the design object and design process. The concept car as a carrier of the technology, philosophy and culture of an enterprise, is associated with different fields of knowledge, such as science, technology, art and so on. Meanwhile, the design and development of the conception car is a team work task with milti-fields designers and engineering staff of different background involved. Therefore, the theme of the design concept and the accurate transmition of the information from theme to design are keys to the successful implement of the concept car design.With concept car and its design as the research subject, and the analysis of design theme and form feature as its clue, the paper systematically analyses the relationships between the design theme and the form feature of the concept car, its performance and the ways of design manipulation, the design method of concept car design in terms of"theme-feature"was proposed, and the feasibility of this method was tested with"zhong qi"concept car design project.In the design of the contemprary concept car, three forms of theme-the design theme, feature theme, and appreciation theme-are proposed through the link between the theme and form theme and the introduction of the three forms of theme to the themes of the design of the concept car. In addition, the relationship between the three forms of themes and the form of the concept car is analyzed and the classification and analysis of these themes are made. Finally, two common modeling methods are concluded by studying its form feature, which is a good supplement to the automobile design.
