As a kind of radioactive gas, Radon is very harmful to human health. To take effective protection measures, we need to measure the density of Radon accurately. In this paper, the research and design of a portable Radon meter is introduced. The newly designed Radon meter has high accuracy, can measure continuously and is very portable. It will have a prospective application future.Using for reference of some existing methods in and abroad, and also considering the characteristic of air Radon measure, we decide to use a method called Electric Field-Air Current method. Based on multi-channel analyzer, the Radon meter hardware uses MCU to fulfill the function of users inputting, LCD displaying, spectrum transferring and storing, and etc.The measuring principle, the design of software and hardware and the debugging of the Radon meter is fully discussed in this paper. Air is pumped through a metal ball and the Radon daughters in the air are collected by strong electric field. We can get the Radon's density by measuring Radon daughters'density. This paper fully discussed the basic principles and the formula deducing. Au-Si surface barrier detector is used as the detector. The hardware circuit includes pre-amplifier, main amplifier, pulse detecting, sample holding, A/D transferring, controlling part and etc. The function, principles and the selection of chips is discussed. Circuit Scheme is also given and interpreted. By using C51, the program is of high portability. This paper discusses the program blocks and gives the flow charts. Finally, the project is summarized and improvement suggestions are given in this paper. Design and debugging of Radon meter is accomplished in this paper. The main work includes formula deducing, hardware and software design, debugging of system, and etc.
